On Saturday, Juana, Sandra, Nick and I went to visit the Palacio Portales. It is a beautiful home that once belonged to Simón Iturri Patiño. Patiño was once one of the ten richest men in the world and was known as "The Tin Baron". Once he could afford to, he began traveling the world and developed a taste for the finer things. He decided to build this home here in Cochabamba, Bolivia and had every single piece of building material and furniture shipped over from France!!!! Before ever living in his home, however, he died of a heart attack. Now the home is used as a museum and library.
We walked around the gardens on our own and then took part in a tour to see the inside of the home...unfortunately, we were not allowed to take photos inside :( But, the gardens were BEAUTIFUL, so don't be disappointed!!!
