We woke up to a HUGE breakfast that Holly prepared and then took off to The Woodlands. This is a city that Jeff and Holly really enjoy and it was so different than the rest of Texas...lots of trees, less busy and a small town feel. It actually felt like a fancy Charleston, SC. We took a boat through the canal and a trolley through the city and then met up with Jeff's parents at an authentic Mexican restaurant! The restaurant is called El Tiempo and we shared a family style plate of fajitas!!! We ate until we all felt sick and then Holly and I still had Flan for dessert!!! It was good to see Jeff's parents again and catch up with them...I haven't seen them since Jen, Lindsay and I came in February!

USA Road Trip Day 4
Today is what I would call a "zero miles" day (at least while on a road trip)...we didn't go anywhere! We spent the morning and early afternoon laying by the pool with Holly, the late afternoon on the couch watching "The Walton's" and the evening dominating the game RISK!!! After only three hours, I took Nick, Holly and Jeff out (I tend to get a little competitive)! It's ironic because this morning when we woke up I asked Nick, "What do you want to do today?" and he answered, "Take over the world!". What a fun day!!!...sorry, it was also a "zero photos" day.

USA Toad Trip Day 3
I have been telling Nick about the Kolache Factory since the first time I came to Texas with Jennifer. Finally this morning we took Nick to try! We ate Kolaches with ham and eggs, potato, egg and cheese and rancheros. ..they were SO good and Nick LOVED them! After such a good breakfast with Jeff and Holly, we headed downtown with Holly to see Houston. We stopped at REI to get some camping supplies, saw HEB, the most amazing grocery store ever, drove around all over downtown, ate lunch at the Spaghetti Warehouse and finally went to the 60th floor at the JP Morgan Chase Tower (something Holly has wanted to do for 2 years!). By the time we got back to the Hoffart's home it was time to cook dinner! After dinner, we went to Jeff and Holly's Grow Group from their church. We met 6 couples and one single woman. They were all so friendly and the lesson that Jeff taught about marriage was thought provoking! Nick and I both felt like we learned some valuable lessons just by listening to the other couples answers to the questions. After such a full day, we were exhausted!!!

USA Road Trip Day 2
Departure: Roswell, GA
Arrival: Cypress, TX
Hours: 14
Miles: 867.6
Gallons: 34.4
After a wonderful night at my aunt Vicki's, it was already time to head out to our next destination: Texas! We had an easy ride through Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and most of Texas, but the stress rose about 200 percent as we hit Houston! We followed our map that took us on the EZTAG only route and were seen by hundreds of cameras before we figured out how to get off. So, we should have a nice ticket in the mail when we arrive home...ugh! Other than that, we made it safe and sound to Jeff and Holly's house (they are basically my second set of parents). If you remember my two past road trips to Texas, you will be surprised at how "boring" this arrival was. My first one with Jennifer took us 16 1/2 hours, hiding in our car in the neighborhood, running through random backyards, jumping over fences, hiding on strangers porches and ultimately me twisting my ankle and Jen wetting her pants...needless to say, Jeff and Holly were surprised to see us when we rang the doorbell! The second road trip was me and Jen and we threw Lindsay, her sister, into the backseat. Jeff and Holly were surprised again and this time we remembered which house was theirs! So, this is the first time I have visited the Hoffart's when they were expecting me! It was so good to see Jeff and Holly and they are already spoiling us, turning down our bed and putting chocolates on the pillows!

USA Road Trip Day 1
Departure: Florence, SC
Arrival: Roswell, GA
Miles: 317
Hours: 5
Gallons: 8.9 (plus the half-tank we already had)
After saying goodbye to the bulldog, Bobo, the kitty cat, Lilly, the guinea pig, Muffin (who is a boy) and the chickens, Nancy and the others (the chicken "boss" we named after my grandma Nancy...the rest are still just "the chickens"), we hopped in the car and headed out! Although we have been to the Atlanta area many times, we have never even once been to the home of my aunt Vicki. Not only was it such a treat just to see family and catch up, but we also had a great meal and all watched the last Harry Potter movie together, followed by America's Funniest Home Videos and looking at old family photos! I always love sitting around telling stories with family...we laughed so much! So, our first road trip day was a success...no breakdowns, no accidents, family, good food, lots of laughter...and to top it off, we watched our friends Spence and Jessie Romine star on House Hunters right before falling asleep!
